Bethesda Care Home provides 30 nursing care residential places for older adults with full-time care needs. Bethesda Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care for up to 4 placements along with respite and convalescence care.
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Cook to work as part of our catering team, providing meals/snacks/beverages to all our residents/patients and staff. You will work within a small catering team lead by the Head Cook.
Previous catering experience would be essential. Tasks required include checking stock, preparing and serving food etc. Ensuring all duties are carried out in a safe manner following Health & Safety guidance along with ensuring all equipment is cleaned to the required high specification. You will provide cover for staff leave.
This post is a 30-hour contract per week, with shift patterns planned a month in advance. Shift pattern is four on three off. Further details on request
Salary: £16.28 per hour, £31,739.00 pro-rata per annum. Inclusive of Distant Island Allowance.
Staff meals are provided for staff and all uniforms are provided.

An opportunity has arisen to be part of an exceptional care team providing care to older adults and specialist palliative care to the community of the Western Isles. Bethesda Care Home and Hospice has an excellent reputation for providing a high standard of care in the Hospice and the Nursing Home.
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and compassionate Staff Nurse who has a passion for providing and delivering high quality, holistic, palliative and end of life care, whether that is for medical, social, spiritual and/or emotional support.
You will need to hold a current N.M.C. registration and have a good knowledge of the most up-to-date clinical practices to join us as a Registered Nurse. Experience of producing well-developed care plans and detailed risk assessments is important too, as is an understanding of regulatory frameworks, such as the Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines. The successful candidate will be funded to obtain a qualification in palliative care, if not already held. Availability for extra shift cover is optional.

We are currently looking for caring and motivated individuals who would like the opportunity to support older adults to live life to the fullest and promote their independence. Bethesda Care Home & Hospice, located in Stornoway, provides care for 30 permanent resident placements. The Hospice provides for up to 4 patients during end-of-life care or for those who require a day service such as pain management or respite break.
You will work within a team of Nurses and Health Care Assistants to meet the needs of our residents. Practical experience is not necessary as training will be provided, however, previous experience within the care sector would be an advantage.
Shifts are normally day shift 0730 to 14.30 or 1400 to 2000.
A successful Health Care Assistant must be willing to work towards a qualification of SVQ Level II and III, in Health and Social Care as required by our registered body the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). The course will be paid for you during your employment.
